Power BI & Business Intelligence

Turn operational data into business intelligence — financials, production and inventory in dashboards leadership actually opens.

How does Power BI work with Business Central?

Power BI connects to Business Central data and turns it into refreshable reports and dashboards. Rather than exporting to Excel every month, financial statements, inventory positions, production output and sales analysis are modeled once and updated automatically — with dimensions carried through so the same numbers can be sliced by location, product line or entity.

01

What we build

  • P&L, balance sheet and cash reporting from ERP data
  • Multi-entity and multi-location consolidated reporting
  • Inventory, purchasing and supplier performance dashboards
  • Production output, scrap and throughput analytics
  • Sales and margin analysis by customer and product line
  • Data models designed for refresh, not one-off exports
  • Row-level security so people see their own scope
  • Executive dashboards with a small number of honest metrics
02

Reporting exposes data problems, and that's the point

The first version of a real dashboard usually reveals that item costs are inconsistent, dimensions were applied unevenly, or two departments define 'shipped' differently.

Fixing those definitions is the actual work. A dashboard built on top of unresolved definitions just distributes disagreement faster.

03

Fewer metrics, used more

Dashboards fail by being comprehensive. We start with the handful of numbers leadership reviews in a meeting, make those completely reliable, and expand from there.

Common questions

Straight answers, no sales theater.

Do we need a data warehouse?

Not usually at first. Direct connections to ERP data with a well-built model handle most small and mid-sized reporting. A warehouse becomes worthwhile with multiple systems, heavy history or complex transformations.

Who maintains the reports?

Either side. We can own the dataset and refresh, or build it and train an internal analyst to extend it.

Can Power BI report across multiple companies?

Yes. Multi-entity consolidation is a common request, and it depends on consistent chart-of-accounts and dimension design in the ERP.
